Working from home and making money online is not a new concept. And actually it is becoming more of the norm for most people who want more freedom these days.
But can you make money from affiliate marketing? I'm here to tell you the answer is YES! I know this for a fact because this is exactly how I make the majority of my income online.
You may be wondering how to get started affiliate marketing. But before we dive into all that, let me touch a little bit on what affiliate marketing really is.
Affiliate Marketing Basics
The process of affiliate marketing is quite simple really. As an affiliate, you promote other people's products and earn a commission if anyone makes a purchase.
There is no inventory or overhead for you to worry about. You don't have to ship anything or deal with customer service issues. In fact, you are basically just the middle man connecting the buyer with the seller.
The way that this works is that you are given affiliate links (unique to you) to use on your website or social media and when anyone clicks on that link, they are taken to the company's website where they have the opportunity to make a purchase.
Once they purchase the product that you were promoting, the company knows to give YOU the commission on that sale because of the tracking inbedded in your affiliate link.

Is There Money to Be Made?
As I mentioned before, Affiliate Marketing is exactly how I make a full time income online, so YES there is money to be made. But it's important to know that you will need to put in the work and build a quality affiliate marketing brand in order to be truly successful.
There are different types of earnings that are achievable with affiliate marketing:
- High Ticket Items
- Low Ticket Items
- Recurring Commissions
- Passive Income
Let's take a closer look at each of these.
High Ticket Items: (ie: 1 sale = $1000 commission)
These are things that cost quite a bit more, but as a result bring in a much higher commission. For instance, a high priced master mind course might cost $2000. But the commission that you as the affiliate would get might be something like $1000.
Low Ticket Items: (ie: 1 sale = $10 commission)
Low ticket items are typically products that most people can afford and therefore can be: sold easier. A $50 purse for instance is a low ticket item, where you might make a $10 commission.
It takes more conversions (sales) to make the same amount of money that a high ticket item can bring in. So for instance, you would have to sell 100 of the $50 purses to equal the $1000 commission of the high ticket item.
Recurring Commissions:
These commissions occur monthly and are usually the result of a subscription type of sale. So let's say someone purchases a monthly plan on a subscription box site (like Fab Fit Fun for example) using your affiliate link. This means that you will be getting a commission every month that they are subscribed to this service.
Passive Income:
This category can actually describe EVERY affiliate sale. Passive income basically just means that you have put in the work prior to making the money. So an affiliate link that you put in a blog post years ago, can bring in money for you every time someone uses it.
Do You Need a Website?
In my opinion, you should definitely have a website for your affiliate marketing business. However, you can still make sales without one. You are just going to do a lot better if you have a dedicated website built that you can send traffic to on a regular basis.
Another reason I suggest having a website is because you own it. If you rely on social media sites like Facebook or YouTube, there is a risk factor involved because they could go away at any given moment or you could be banned from them for violating one of their ever-changing rules.
When you have a website, you are the owner and as long as the internet exists then you are safe!
