Are You Being Consistent With Your Content?

If you have a website or a blog, you are probably very familiar with writing, editing, and publishing content. But are you being consistent with your content?

Early on in my blogging journey, I fell into the trap of writing a few pretty good articles and then just sitting back and expecting results. I think a lot of people end up doing this as well.  They get a little bit of traffic to their website and maybe even an affiliate sale or two.  And they think they can take a break from the work.

Then slowly but surely the traffic dies down and the sales come to a complete halt. Why? Well, it's honestly because the Google algorithm is always changing and just because you ranked a month ago, doesn't mean you will continue to rank.

So what is the answer? How do you continue to rank within the search engines?  The answer is consistency! Being consistent is just as important as the quality of your blog posts.

Not only that, but you want to constantly be creating content so that you can stay in front of your audience. Imagine bookmarking your favorite blog and then you don't hear anything from them for several months. You would probably move on and find another blog website to follow.

How to Stay Consistent...

This seems like an easy concept, but in reality most people struggle with staying consistent and creating content frequently. There are a few things that you can do however.

1. Create a Schedule

Once again, this sounds simple, but you really need to sit down and create a schedule that is reasonable but also pushes you a little. Determine how much time you have to work on your business and then build a schedule accordingly.

For instance if you have 3 hours every weekday to work on your website, then decide how you will spend that time. Make sure that you are specific about what you want to accomplish each day. Research Keywords, Write a Blog Post, Create Email Campaigns, etc.

2. Brainstorm for Writers Block

What I mean by this is be sure that you spend at least an hour or two a month coming up with blog post ideas. Sit down and make a list of possible subjects to talk about.  Don't even worry about keywords at this point, this list is strictly for emergencies to keep you consistent.

This will help you in times of need… when you develop writers block and can't think of anything to write about. If you already have these in your back pocket, you will be in a much better position to crank out content.

3. Gain Motivation from Others

Having a community of like-minded people around you will actually help you stay on track. You will see their success and find motivation in their excitement.

Don't underestimate the power of influence and motivation. When you are just not feeling like working on your business, you would be surprised how a community of peers can be a positive influence on your mindset.

Why Should You Stay Consistent...

When it comes to creating content, staying consistent will help you keep your writing muscles sharp and strong. Consider it like exercise for your creative brain.

It will also do a lot for your search engine ranking.  By being consistent, you really won't have to worry about the algorithm changing on you and slowing down your traffic.  You will be consistently pumping out content and that should be enough to handle whatever changes come to the algorithms.

The last reason you should stay consistent is because your audience wants to hear from you. I remember following a particular YouTuber once and I loved his content, but then he suddenly slowed down his rate of uploading videos and I kept coming back wanting more.

Your audience is the same… they want to hear from you because hopefully you are providing value or entertainment. Don't flake out on the people that are counting on your content.

Challenge Yourself

One of the best ways to start being more consistent with your content creation is to set a challenge for yourself. In fact, I am in the middle of a 30 day challenge myself.

I am hoping that this will kick start my habit of being consistent through the years ahead. My plan is to write 2 blog posts a week for this very website. Feel free to hold me accountable and follow me during this challenge.

Better yet, if you want to start a challenge of your own, I would love to hear about it and also help you stay on track. You can leave me a comment down below or follow me on my Wealthy Affiliate profile.
