There is no overhead, inventory, shipping costs, or customer service to worry about on your end. You simply connect the customer with the brand by promoting their products and providing a link where customers can purchase. All the heavy lifting is done by the company you are promoting.

As an affiliate marketer, you can decide what products and services to promote. For instance, if you are into surfing or water sports, you could become an affiliate of a major surf brand and promote their surf boards, surf related equipment, apparel, etc, etc.

Affiliate links are the main tool used to promote affiliate products and services. The link is unique to the affiliate and let's the brand or company know who to give the commission to (like a tracking link).
These unique links can be embedded into text, images, videos, or buttons. Knowing how to use these links effectively takes a little bit of knowledge and training. There are several do's and dont's associated with plugging affiliate links.
You don't want to spam your links everywhere for instance. Google particularly doesn't appreciate this. Also you need to have an audience and one of the best ways to do that is to build a niche website that you can drive traffic to.
A website is property that YOU own and therefore it is the foundation that is needed in any affiliate marketing business. You can also promote affiliate products on social media (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Etc) however you do not own those platforms and can get shut down at any moment.
So basically, having a website insures that you will always have a presence on the internet, no matter what other platforms come and go. I personally started by building a website and supplemented with the social media platforms. This way, I can direct my audience on those socials to my main website.

Within your website, you can create product reviews that give potential customers a rundown of a particular product. Inside of the review, you simply place a link to the product where someone can buy it.
You can also utilize links within images and buttons. A “Buy Now” button is one way that you can incorporate your affiliate link. It is a call to action that can lead to a potential sale.
Informational posts within your website can also be used to embed affiliate links. Showing someone how to do something or answering their questions can provide the opportunity to promote a product or service that may help them.
